Rose pays particular attention to what she calls the “empty, repetitious, uninflected art” being produced by dancers, musicians, writers, sculptors and painters. This much cited article was one of the first critical attempts to explain and contextualize the kind of art work that would be labelled "minimal" or "conceptual".
