Andreas Broeckmann (1964, Kevelaer) is an art historian and curator who lives in Berlin. Currently Visiting Professor for Art History and Media Theory at the Academy of Fine Arts, Leipzig (HGB - Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst, 2017-2019). Since 2015 he has been engaged in the research and documentation project, Les Immateriaux Research.
Broeckmann studied art history, sociology and media studies in Bochum and Berlin, and received his PhD in art history with the thesis A Visual Economy of Individuals: Portrait Photography in the 19th Century Human Sciences from the University of East Anglia, Norwich (1995).
