Born 1934 in Zagreb. Studied Yugoslav languages and literature and comparative literature at the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, University of Zagreb, and at a special education teachers college in Zagreb. 1957 sentenced to 18 months in prison for a political offense. From early 1960s published under the pseudonym Branimir Donat in the cultural magazine Telegram. Co-founder and secretary of the magazine Kritika. 1972 became editor in the publishing institute Matica hrvatska. He lives in Zagreb.
