Photographer. She began photographing in 1924, focusing on everyday life in Slovak countryside. Studied photography and typography under Walter Peterhans at Bauhaus Dessau (1931-33). With the school closed by the Nazis, she returned to Bratislava, where she ran a bookshop. With her friends from leftist intellectual circles, she founded the Sociofoto group. Later she studied at Karel Plicka's film school in Bratislava, and taught at the School of Arts and Crafts. John Heartfield used her works in his photomontages.
