Born 1968 in [[Bucharest]], grew up in New York. Subsol, organiser, networker and writer, based in [[Cluj]]. Ex-philosopher, media theorist and freelance organizer. US citizen since 1983. She has an MA in political philosophy from New York University, and earned a Ph.D. at the Literature Program at Duke University.  Her thesis, "Specters of Misarchism," theorizes the intersections between avant-garde art, bureaucratic organization, and the State-form, focusing on Dada, Situationism, and Neue Slowenische Kunst. Co-organizer with Multimedia Institute in Croatia of [[Art Servers Unlimited|ASU2]] (Art Servers /Streamers /Spaces Unlimited) and Reality Check for Cyber Utopias. Currently living in Cluj, coordinating a media production & education program which includes net.radio, video production and a local Indymedia chapter. Editor of subsol webzine and author of essays on new media culture and politics. Member of [[D Media]]. Lives in [[Berlin]].

Born in Bucharest, Joanne Richardson studied philosophy, critical theory, and film and video at NYU and Duke University, and is currently living and working in Cluj (Romania) as a theorist, video artist and program director of D Media, a media art NGO.
