French sound artist (born 1974), he lives and works in Marseille and Berlin. Currently, he is a member of Locus Sonus, a post-graduate laboratory for sound art (Ecole Supérieur d’Art d’Aix en Provence, Ecole Nationale Supérieure d’Arts La Villa Arson, Nice). He studied music, acoustics, fluid mechanics and material sciences. In his work, Julien Clauss questions the perception of space and the place the individual takes in his physical and political environment. His installations convene the abstraction or the fiction and bring the visitor into a state of presence which questions reality. A few places he has shown his work : “Plasticiens du Web” (with b-l-u-s-c-r-e-e-n), Centre Pompidou, Paris, 2004 (F), Aire de Confluxence, Luxembourg, 2007(L), Villa Arson, Nice, 2007(F), Musée Chagal, Nice (F).
