Born 1963 in Bludenz. She studied History of Art, Classical Archaeology and Journalism in Salzburg. Since 1994 she has worked in the Vienna Secession as a curator and event organizer. After diverse commissions as a curator Rhomberg was one of the persons responsible for Manifesta 3 held in [[Ljubljana]] in [[2000]]. From 1990 to 2001 Kathrin Rhomberg was curator and director of the exhibition office at Vienna Secession. Together with Francesco Bonami, Ole Bouman and Maria Hlavajova, she curated Manifesta 3, the European Biennial of Contemporary Art, in Ljubljana in 2000. In 2001 she founded the international tranzit project for Erste Bank with Maria Hlavajova, an initiative to promote art projects in Central Europe that was later taken over by ERSTE Foundation. In 2002 she moved on to the Kölnischer Kunstverein, where she took on the role of managing director until 2007.
