Louis Vignes
Louis Vignes, (June 8, 1831 - 1 July 1896) was a French admiral and one of the first photographers in the East. Louis Vignes is not a professional photographer but a connoisseur, there are interesting since the beginning of photography. From June 1859 to October 1862, he reported his campaigns in the Mediterranean fifty-two paper plates which earned him a reputation in the Navy. The Duke of Luynes, famous archaeologist and collector, organizes an exploration trip to Beirut by Palmyra Jerash. He is interested in himself to photography and attended the French Photographic Society founded in 1854. He is looking for a photographer who is good company for him during this long journey on the recommendation and chooses the young naval officer.
