Born 1957 in Sofia. Artist. Lives in Sofia.

In his most recent works the Bulgarian artist Boyadjiev turned to the aesthetics of advertising. With a refined irony he combines the garishness and familiarity of advert billboards with religious topics, creating the humorous space of a ‘new religion’, the belief of a commercialized society. An understanding of the advert as a form of modern ‘monumental propaganda’ permits the advert images to grow through the facades of buildings and take up a dominating position in the city space.
