Mária Júdová is an independent artist investigating the creative potential of technology. During her studies at the Digital Media Department at the Academy of Arts, Banská Bystrica, and the Installation and Performance Department at École de recherche graphique in Brussels, she became particularly interested in exploring the intersection of digital and performance arts, which resulted in numerous dance on camera movies. Later on, she was researching at FAMU Center for Audiovisual studies (CZ), taking a critical perspective on the common algorithmic approach to visualize the moving body. As an artist in residency, she worked at Theater Roxy in Basel and Rambert contemporary dance company in London. She is also involved in Choreographic Coding Lab.

Her works have been presented at Sensorium festival (SK), White Night Festival (SK), LABoral (ES), Immersive Expressions of Siggraph (NY), Athens Digital Arts Festival (GR), Berlin Atonal (DE), Das Tanzfest (CHE), Cinedans (NL), Accès(s) – festival cultures électroniques in (FR) and V&A Museum (UK) among many others. She received awards by Japan Media Arts Festival and B3 Biennale for her VR piece DUST. She actively works in the field of digital arts both nationally and internationally.

Mária Júdová's work combines the exploration of technologically informed dance practices with participatory performances, body movement, time and space. She is interested in applying the process of choreographic thinking to digital arts practice and vice versa, as she believes that it leads to the creation of richer and more meaningful experiences. She often find herself in close collaboration with performers, dancers and choreographers, trying to better understand the principles behind the creation of movement as well as sharing our own creative practices.
