(b. 1955) is an Estonian composer who works with equal success in the fields of both serious and entertainment music. A connoisseur of the Orient, Vahi has travelled over half the world-e.g. Buryatia and Mongolia, India and Buddhist settlements in Scandinavia-in search of a new spirituality. He has written many articles about the music of the Orient. In his computer music, one can sometimes recognize original combinations of European and Oriental traditions. A constant member of the various committees that judge light-music, he is also influenced by contemporary rock music. He often uses the computer in combination with instruments of the symphonic orchestra.
