Head of Wilhelm Fink publishing house.

Studied literature, philosophy and sociology at Cologne and Freiburg before gaining a doctorate in 1975 for his study of Georg Büchner: Dialektik der Grenze [Dialectic of the Limit]. After several years as an editor at Ferdinand Schöningh publishing house in Paderborn, he moved to Wilhelm Fink, where he advanced from head of the editing department to take over the running of the whole company.

Alongside his publishing career he completed a habilitation thesis in literary studies, which was accepted in 1989. In 1995 he was appointed extraordinary professor at Paderborn University. He has published books and numerous essays on topics of literary history, aesthetic theory, practical philosophy, and cultural and media history. His current interests are cultural, discourse and media analysis, posthumanism and genocide research.

Zons is a member of the “Archaeology of Literary Communication” research group and served on the advisory board of “Weimar – City of Culture”.

Member of the IFG advisory board since 2003.
