Lecturer, researcher and graphic designer with computer science and art roots. Graduated in computer science from the Faculty of Informatics, Masaryk University [1] in Brno (M.Sc 1998, Ph.D 2003). In 2002 obtained doctoral fellowship from the University of Bristol at the Digital Media Group [2] aimed at research in computational aesthetics.

After Ph.D. graduation Tomáš worked at the Faculty of Informatics as a researcher and lecturer of computer-aided art [3] (1999–2006), 3D modeling (2002–2006) and digital photography (2003–2006). He was a co-founder of the Graphic Design & Multimedia Studio [4] (2002) where he participated in various projects and events bringing art and science together.

He was teaching internet art and new media creativity at the Theory of Interactive Media department, Faculty of Arts, Masaryk University (2008–2009) and was the editorial board member of IM6 magazine on electronic culture, contemporary art and society (2004–2005). He was involved in Multiplace festival of new media culture as a coordinator of the Student Match forum (2008).

Tomáš is a co-founder of the non-profit cultural association Napříč.cz [5] and a member of its endowment board (since 2007). He held four solo exhibitions and participated in almost twenty collective art shows, including Computer Graphics Re-Visited 2.0 [6] (2018), Prototyp [7] (2019) or Ars Electronica [8] (2019). He often curates computer art exhibitions — Digital Masox [9] (2009), Multidataloď [10] (2011), Artgoritmy (2014), Digiarcha [11] (2015) or 01100100 [12] (2019).

In 2018 Tomáš participated in New Histories for New Media Art symposium held at the Brno House of Arts together with Barbara Büscher, Oliver Grau and Frieder Nake. He is a member of the International Association of Art [13] and the Union of Visual Artists of the Czech Republic [14] (both since 2006), and the editorial board member of JOINME peer-reviewed journal [15] focused on digital media culture theory & praxis (since 2017, with Denisa Kera, Barbara Büscher and Dušan Barok).

Tomáš currently works as a freelancing graphic designer and university lecturer. He teaches computer-aided art [16] at the Faculty of Information Technology, Brno University of Technology [17] (since 2005), and algorithmic art theory & practice at the Theory of Interactive Media, Masaryk University (since 2014). His research interests include examining computational foundations of artistic expression and proposing algorithmic criteria for aesthetic evaluation.
