Born 1975 in Prague, lives in Brno, Czech Republic. Lecturer, researcher and graphic designer with computer science and art roots. Graduated in computer science from the Faculty of Informatics, Masaryk University [1] in Brno (M.Sc 1998, Ph.D 2003). In 2002 he obtained doctoral fellowship from the University of Bristol at the Digital Media Group [2] aimed at research in computational aesthetics.

After Ph.D. graduation he worked at the Faculty of Informatics as a researcher and lecturer of computer-aided art [3] (1999–2006), 3D modeling (2002–2006) and digital photography (2003–2006). He was a co-founder of the Graphic Design & Multimedia Studio [4] (2002) where he participated in various projects and events bringing art and science together.

He taught internet art and new media creativity at the Theory of Interactive Media department, Faculty of Arts, Masaryk University (2008–2009) and was the editorial board member of IM6 magazine on electronic culture, contemporary art and society (2004–2005). He was involved in Multiplace festival of new media culture as a coordinator of the Student Match forum (2008).

Tomáš is a co-founder of the non-profit cultural association Napříč.cz [5] and a member of its endowment board (since 2007). He held four solo exhibitions — Photographics (Brno 2003), Mar del Plata // Buenos Aires (Brno 2005), Seven Year Retrospective (Brno 2013), Theatre Poster (Brno 2014) — and participated in almost twenty collective art shows, including Ars Electronica (Linz 2001), Computer Multimedia Art Festival (Prague 2002) or DOX Center for Contemporary Art Festival (Prague 2013). He enjoys curating computer art exhibitions — Digital Masox [6] (2009), Multidataloď [7] (2011), Artgoritmy (2014) or Digiarcha (2015).

He is a member of the International Association of Art [8] and the Union of Visual Artists of the Czech Republic [9] (both since 2006) and also the editorial board member of TIMezin peer-reviewed journal [10] focused on theoretical discourse and interdisciplinary research of new media (since 2013).

Currently Tomáš works as a freelancing university lecturer and graphic designer. He teaches computer-aided art [11] at the Faculty of Information Technology, Brno University of Technology [12] (since 2005) and algorithmic art theory and practice at the Interactive Media Theory, Masaryk University (since 2014). His research interests include revealing aesthetic potential of computer-aided imagery, examining computational background of artistic expression and proposing algorithmic criteria for aesthetic evaluation.
