The Visual Culture Research Center (Центр візуальної культури) in Kiev emerged in 2008 as an institutionalization of the activities held by a group of scholars, artists and students at the Department of Cultural Studies at the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy. The center was conceived as a platform for the integration of contemporary artistic practices and scientific disciplines within the academic field. The center’s primary aim is to create an interdisciplinary environment that would contribute to the analysis of Ukraine’s post-Soviet condition in terms of art, knowledge and politics. Its chief activities are publishing and artistic activities, scientific research, organization of public lectures, discussions, and conferences.

Founded by Olga Bryukhovetska and Sean Snyder. Head: Vasyl Cherepanyn.
