The Institute For Music And Media at the University of Music, Düsseldorf was founded in October 2004. The institute aims to teach on the edge of innovative production and theoretical criticism of music and media on the base of an interactive and multidisciplinary environment involving dynamic exchange and co-operation among various departments through discourse, research projects and artistic development. The institute is aligned with the guidelines of the university and combines three main approaches of a broad quality education: 1. Artistic Practise; 2. Media Design; 3. Theory and Discourse.

The Institute For Music and Media seeks a profound organisation of educating in three different programs at present: 1. Audio- and Video Engineering, in cooperation with the University of Applied Science, Duesseldorf, "Diplom"-degree; 2. Audio and Video, in cooperation with the University of Applied Science, Duesseldorf, Bachelor of Engineering; 3. Music and Media, Bachelor of Music.
