The VidéoAvril festival (12 – 15 April 2007) was a public event which screened 26 new video productions by Lebanese artists in Beirut. Organised by Ashkal Alwan, many of the presented videos were responses to the recent tumult of Lebanon, shown through artistic voices that stand apart from media representations. The VidéoAvril festival was an important step to bring to the surface individual, subjective and alternative histories which are not controlled by the official discourses that saturate television screens. The festival showed the outcomes of three video projects: 'Summertime', 'Time-lapse', and the ALMOSTREAL supported project 'Video Works'.
