Zuzana Žabková holds an MA from the Fine Arts Academy and BA from the Performing Arts and Dance Academy in [[Bratislava]], Slovakia. Currently she is finishing a M.A. program Choreography and performance in Institute for Applied Theatre Studies in Giessen in Germany with guidance of Slovenian philosopher Bojana Kunst. She is a winner of the Oscar Cepan Award 2017 (YVAA). She is a recipient of a 2016 artist-in-residence in Triangle Arts Association, New York, and a 2016 danceWEB scholar at ImPulsTanz in Vienna under the mentorship of Tino Sehgal. In 2015 she was a recipient of a Salzburg Academy scholarship, ERSTE Stiftung, Austria, an artist in residence in Meetfactory Prague, Czech Republic. In 2014 an artist in residence in Regular Line Santa Cruz, California, U.S., 2013 an artist in residence in AQB, Budapest, Hungary, 2012 an artist in residence in Halle 14, Leipzig, Germany. Zuzana Žabková is an artist, dancer, and choreographer who explores the body as a prophetic apparatus, always in touch with something beyond itself. In her work, she often starts from a place of wounds, weakness, and brokenness, embracing these as holy strategies for survival. She is interested in somatic fiction and collective play structures that serve as laboratories for imagining and training new forms of social relations. She works both independently and collaboratively, rethinking values around work and care. She is the co-founder of björnsonova, a platform, fictional character, community, and multifaceted dance form with roots and connections spanning various temporal, spatial, and artistic dimensions.
