Rolf Julius (25 January 1939, Wilhelmshaven, Germany - 21 January 2011, Berlin) studied visual arts in Bremen and Berlin from 1961 to 1969. Starting in the late 1970s he began to integrate acoustic elements into his sculptural work and by the mid-1980s, he concentrated intensively on the aural elements in his oeuvre.
