Maria Karagianni is an artist based in [[Rotterdam]]. Born 1979 in [[Athens]]. She studied photography and graphic arts at the Fine Arts School of Athens and holds a masters in media design from the [[Networked Media Piet Zwart Institute Rotterdam|Piet Zwart Institute]] of Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam (2008). She creates software and hardware tools for interactive performances using and connecting different elements including graphics, light, and sound. She also works as a freelance web designer. Maria has collaborated with choreographer [[Thomas Körtvélyessy]] and composer [[Sjoerd Leijten]] for projects reflecting authorship and open/closed structures in dance composition. She has also given lectures about the complexities of copyright licensing in the U.K. She is a member of the [[Genderchangers]], [[Open Mode]] and [[Media Liberation Front/Feminism]] collectives.

Mara Karayanni (Μάρα Καραγιάννη, Athens) is a technologist, educator and artist. Mara’s work involves computational and analogue media for publishing, print-making, computer programming, making artistic technical manuals, and writing gender critique based texts about internet and the Free and Open Source technologies. Mara is part of the feminist server Systerserver, where they host mailing lists, code repository, wiki, streaming and video based experimental artworks about cyber and techno-feminism. Mara studied graphic arts at the Fine Arts School of Athens and hold a Masters in media design from the Piet Zwart Institute in Rotterdam (2008). Currently Mara teaches at ERG - École de recherche graphique in the Digital Arts Department.
