Franz Thalmair (he/they) is a curator, writer, and editor, based in Vienna, Austria.

Currently, he works as a curator for contemporary art at the mumok – Museum moderner Kunst Stiftung Ludwig Wien in Vienna (since 2019) and as artistic director and co-curator at the Kunstraum Lakeside in Klagenfurt (since 2018) | Curatorial director of the arts-based research project originalcopy – Post-digital Strategies of Appropriation, University of Applied Arts Vienna (2016-2019) | Managing curator at the Secession in Vienna (2010-2014) | Freelance curatorial projects at institutions such as Museo Palacio de la Escuela de Medicina UNAM in Mexico City; Wiels Contemporary Art Centre in Brussels; Greylight Projects in Brussels; Karst in Plymouth (UK); Akbank Art Center in Istanbul; Mala Galerija/Moderna Galerija in Ljubljana.
