Born 1977 in Moscow. Studied politics, philosophy and oriental studies in the University of Oxford. Since 2000 he has been a doctoral candidate at the Centre russe of the École des hautes études in sciences sociales in Paris. His dissertation deals with the political culture of nationalism and patriotism in post-Soviet Russia. Gabowitsch, who currently lives in Moscow, is the editor-in-chief of the journal NEPRIKOSNOWENNYJ SAPAS and the co-moderator of a radio program of the same name. In addition, he works as a free-lance translator and interpreter. His article, "Der russische Nationalpatriotismus der Gegenwart und sein Verhältnis zum Kommunismus" (‘Contemporary Russian Patriotism and its Relation to Communism’), will appear soon in a volume edited by Uwe Backes, RECHTSEXTREME IDEOLOGIEN IN GESCHICHTE UND GEGENWART [‘Extreme Right-Wing Ideologies in History and the Present’].
