Vizualni kolegij (Visual Collegium) has been initiated in 2004 in Zagreb within the project Swarm Intelligences with a purpose to open up new discursive domains within the field of visual and cinematic studies in Croatia. Our aim was to promote research on the rationality of image-production, taken from the perspective of an “expanded cinema”.
Main activities are regular bi-weekly screenings in MaMa, a continous multi-annual lecture-series and publication of theoretical texts. So far we have published two volumes: Alexander Garcia-Düttmann’s monograph on Visconti and Vizualni kolegij Reader.
Vizualni kolegij is coordinated by Tanja Vrvilo & Petar Milat.
Lecturers so far were: Tomislav Medak, Cesare Casarino, Stephen Zepke, Aleksandar Battista Ilić, Jelena Krivokapić, Stathis Gourgouris, Ruth Noack, Marie-Luise Angerer, Saša Vojković, Marko Stamenković, Alexander Garcia-Düttmann, Alexander Horwath, Akira Mizuta Lippit, Lillevän Pobjoy, Sandra Sterle, Dan Oki, Stojan Pelko, Gertrud Koch & Hauke Brunkhorst, Pavle Levi.
