Martin Walsh (1947-1977) taught film at the University of Western Ontario and made a major contribution to the development of film studies both at the University and throughout the province. For three years he had been President of the Film Studies Association of Ontario and had recently become a founder member of the editorial board of Cinétracts, the Canadian journal of film and communications theory. He completed his thesis on the films of Ingmar Bergman, and became a lecturer at the University of Western Ontario in 1972. [1]
