Institut für Elektronische Musik und Akustik in Graz concentrates itself in three areas: Research and Development, Art Production and Education. Head: Robert Höldrich.
Compositions students are trained in musical acoustics, sound synthesis, algorithmic composition, and real-time systems. IEM has also established an audio engineering curriculum in collaboration with the Technical University in Graz.
