PLATO is a municipal gallery of contemporary art in Ostrava, founded in 2016. It operates in the city centre, in two locations less than 70 m apart. Its main exhibitions are held in the PLATO building, a reconstructed, heritage-listed municipal slaughterhouse from the late 19th century. The other space, PLATO Bauhaus, is a former hobby market with almost 5,000 m² of space used for educational and community programmes. PLATO curates its own concert and film series and runs the Octopus Press publishing house.
