Vivian Sky Rehberg is an art historian and critic. She is the course director for the Master Fine Art at Piet Zwart Institute, Rotterdam.

From 2007, she was head of the Critical Studies department at Parsons Paris School of Art + Design, where she also taught modern and contemporary art history and theory. Rehberg obtained her MA in Art History and Criticism from Stony Brook University (Stony Brook, NY, 1993) and PhD from Northwestern University (Evanston, Illinois) with the dissertation The Rhetoric of Realism: Painting, Politics and Commitment in France, 1940-56 (2000). From 2001 to 2004 she was curator of contemporary art at ARC/Musée d’art moderne de la ville de Paris and for the Paris Department of Cultural Affairs. A founding editor of Journal of Visual Culture, she is a contributing editor of frieze and has published in the following contemporary art magazines/websites: Art Agenda, Artforum, Art in America, Art Press, e-flux magazine, and Modern Painters. Her texts frequently appear in exhibition catalogues and artist monographs, most recently on the work of Isabelle Cornaro, Roman Ondak, Koo Jeong-A, and Chantal Akerman. She was based in Paris from 1997 until 2012 when she moved to Rotterdam.
