Irving Singer (1925-2015) was a professor of philosophy at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He had written on cinema (Bergman, Hitchcock, Renoir, Welles), love, sexuality, and the philosophy of George Santayana. Singer retired from MIT in 2013 after 55 years of teaching there.
