Alenka Pirman (1964) has a PhD in Heritage Studies (Faculty of Arts, University of Ljubljana, Slovenia). She has been working as a visual artist since 1991, collaborating with various museums (e.g. The Case. Art & Criminality project with the Slovene Police Museum in 2005 and 2014). She is also a founding member of the Domestic Research Society, which engages in collaborative and interdisciplinary research on contemporary art and heritage. From 2016 to 2019, she was involved in a research project on the transmission of contested cultural heritage through arts (TRACES), funded by Horizon 2020 and led by the University of Klagenfurt.

Research/Interests: exhibitions, contested heritage display, visual and material language of truth-making, (neo-)conceptual art. (2023)

She was artistic director of Škuc Gallery from 1991-1996. [1]
