Lukáš Likavčan

Lukáš Likavčan is a philosopher focused on emerging technologies, ecology, and astronomy. He works as a researcher for Antikythera program incubated by Berggruen Institute, and he is an incoming fellow at University of Giessen's Panel for Planetary Thinking. He also often engages as a consultant with private companies, public institutions, and NGOs such as Waag Futurelab.

Previously, Lukáš held faculty positions at NYU Shanghai, FAMU in Prague, and Strelka Institute, where he also authored his book essay Introduction to Comparative Planetology (2019). He was affiliated as a visiting researcher with Leiden Observatory, Wirtschaftsuniversität Wien, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava and Earth-Life Science Institute at Tokyo Tech. Lukáš studied philosophy at Masaryk University, where he also obtained his PhD in environmental studies.

Besides his academic work, Lukáš also spend several years developing artistic and curatorial projects at institutions such as Display Prague and BAK, basis voor actuele kunst, Utrecht. His interdisciplinary work has been presented internationally at venues including CERN Arts, KW Berlin, Tallinn Kunsthall, Sonic Acts, transmediale, Venice Biennale, Goldsmiths, Cambridge University, Vienna Biennale and many others.
