Born 1958. Became the head of the ZKM Institute for Music and Acoustic on April 1, 2003. Before that, he had been working as a professor for composition at the Sonic Research Centre in Belfast. After his diploma in pedagogy, he studied compostion at the Folkwang- Hochschule Essen with Nicolaus A. Huber and Dirk Reith. An important part of his work includes collaborations with modern choreographs. For his electroacoustic compositions, Brümmer obtained a number of prizes, e.g. from the Synthese-Festival in Bourges, the Academy of Arts Berlin, the Ars Electronica/Linz.
