Alexander Mihalič
Born 1963 in Medzilaborce, Slovakia. Studied composition at the Conservatory of Košice in 1982 under Jozef Podprocký. Continued composition studies in Bratislava with Ilja Zeljenka from 1985 to 1988. In 1987 received a scholarship to study in Paris under Yoshihisa Ta�ra at the "École Normale de Musique de Paris" (from 1987 to 1988). Moved to France to study electro-acoustic composition with Michel Zbar from 1998-1990. In the same year received Master's degree from the "Université de Paris VIII" under Horacio Vaggione and in 1991 entered the DEA in "20th century Music and Musicology" program. In December 2000 he obtain PhD in composition at the "Université Paris VIII". Between 1991 and 1992 taught at the "Université de Paris VIII" and from 1992 to 1997 worked at the IRCAM pedagogy department. In 1997 invented the "Pedalophone" (a system of eight to nine pedals which allows the solo musician to directly control the parameters of real-time sound processing through natural gestures) for concerts in France, Spain, Japan and USA. His compositions have been played in festivals and concerts in Europe, North America, Japan and Australia.
