Having studied philosophy and linguistics at Bergische Universität Wuppertal, Freie Universität Berlin and Universität Wien, Voss received her Ph.D. in 2003 with a dissertation thesis on philosophical theories of emotions. From 2003 to 2009, she was a Lecturer and Assistant Researcher at the seminar for film studies at Freie Universität Berlin where she participated in a research group formed by Gertrud Koch (“Zur Bedeutung der medienspezifischen Illusionsbildung”). Christiane Voss has been Professor of Audiovisual Media and Media Philosophy at Bauhaus-Universität Weimar since 2010.
