The Institute of Sonology was incorporated in the Royal Conservatory in The Hague in 1986.
The main points in the educational program are still: electronic music production, digital sound synthesis, algorithmic composition, voltage control technique, and music theory. With the rise of live electronic music, an important subject has been added, whereby attention is paid to both the compositional models and the technical aspects of software and hardware.
