The term media art is useful and used for projects bringing up the social, cultural, legal and political issues that come along with the emergence of new media. Since 1990s the new media have included internet, web, mobiles, wireless, GPS, and others. Similarly to contemporary art, also in media art are gradually formed mechanisms providing the basis for existence of the power structures (including personalities, icons, market and other attendant phenomena). However, the most of the creative activites in this field are funded from public sources.
