Work: Face-to-Face 1 (1986)
- A closed-circuit video device enables two people, sitting back to back, to communicate while each looks at the otherís face as it appears on the TV set in front of him and listens to his voice coming from a microphone. Nearby but in another room, two other televisions, with the same images of the two people as they talk, are placed opposite each other and dialogue with each other.
- The situation in which the communication takes place is extremely interesting and complex: the interlocutors are not distant from each other but are in the same place and are indeed in physical contact. However, although they are aware of each other and feel the other person near, they have to interact through a device which technologically mediates their presence, making it immaterial and distant.
