Oľga Smetanová

Studied Accordion and, from 1982 to 1985, Music Theory at the Academy of Music and Drama in Bratislava. Since 1988, she has worked for the Slovak Music Information Centre of the Music Fund in the function of editor in chief of "Slovak Music" and manager of "Evenings of New Music"-Festival. From 1992 to 1999 she was director of the Slovak Music Information Centre. Since then, she has worked as director of Music Centre Slovakia, a public institution which confines itself to the promotion of Slovak musical life with numerous internationally oriented activities, like Bratislava Music Festival, the festival for contemporary music Melos-Ethos, the Central-European Music Festival amongst others. A variety of interviews, professional articles and radio programmes complete Smetanová's professional work. Lives in Bratislava.
