Born in 1974 in Prague, Petr Szczepanik teaches film and media studies at Masaryk University in Brno and also works as a researcher at the National Film Archive, Prague. He is editor-in-chief of Iluminace, the only scholarly film studies journal in Czech Republic. He has published numerous essays on 1930s film and media culture and the history of industrial film, and edited or co-edited several books on the history of film theory, including Cinema All the Time: An Anthology of Czech Film Theory and Criticism, 1908-1939.
