Dr. Reuben Fowkes is the initiator of the SocialEast Forum, which considers the art and visual culture of Eastern Europe through collaborative projects, exhibitions and seminars. His research interests include: conceptual art, contemporary art, sustainability, Socialist Realism, the East European art underground, and the politics of public monuments. He co-curated the exhibition Revolution is not a Garden Party to mark the 50th anniversary of the Hungarian Uprising in 2006-7. His current curatorial project is 'Revolution I Love You: 1968 in Art, Politics and Philosophy', which will travel to Centre for Contemporary Art Thessaloniki, Trafo Gallery Budapest and International Project Space Birmingham during 2008.
