Researcher and lecturer at Edinburgh College of Art. Her work intersects ethnographic explorations, conceptual tool design, participatory interventions and writing. For the past five years, and as part of her doctoral studies at the Centre for Cultural Studies, Goldsmiths College, University of London, Sónia has dedicated her research to the study of a whistled form of language known as the Silbo Gomero, one that is still alive in the small island of La Gomera in the Canarian Archipelago. She currently prepares a new research project regarding food, design and ecology in the Azorean islands. Lives in Edinburgh.
