The Responsive City is a network of designers, architects, planners, researchers and neighbourhood groups. Based in Istanbul and Delft. Started in 2004.

It works with neighbourhood organisations (like Gulensu in Istanbul) to help develop a vision about their neighbourhood; with governments of cities (like Almere and Istanbul) to develop city visions and strategies; and creates new education methods of approaching and designing cities, such as ‘city design games,’

The Responsive City focuses on cities from the Middle East, Balkans as well as European cities influenced by migration from the East.

It is currently working on a real-time research and action project (Istanbul 2010), and mapping the dynamics of Cairo (Mapping Cairo).
