LAb[au] studies the transformation of architecture and space-time structures in harmony with technological development using a MetaDeSIGN practice. MetaDeSIGN (meta = information about information) is the theme of space constructions in relation to information processes; architecture as code/transposition of inFORMation processes in n-dimensional form. Set up in 1997 and located in Brussels, LAb[au] creates mainly interactive installations and audiovisual presentations and develops its own soft and hardware for this (scenography and interfaces). Lab[au] is made up of three members (Manuel Abendroth, Jerome Decock and Els Vermang) who have backgrounds in architecture, art and music, which also fits in with the logics of the programming of their digital design gallery, MediaRuimte set up in 2003.
