State Free Art Studios [Svobodnye gosudarstvenne khudozhestvenne masterskie]. Founded in October 1918. In Moscow it is housed in the former School of Painting, Sculpture and Drawing and the Stroganov School. In Petrograd it is housed in the Imperial Academy of Art. Transformed into VKhUTEMAS in 1920.
