(b. 1956) is a composer from Yerevan. His works, like Vahi's, reflect a synthesis of European and Oriental traditions, but he interprets them differently. In Rostomyan's music, one can hear influences of the ancient Armenian monody; it is very coloristic and religious. He is a tragic composer, a master of musical devel- opment. His computer symphony and some computer miniatures-for example, "The Angels' Canticles"-are popular in the West. Rostomyan also composes traditional music.
