Alexander Acosta Osorio

Artist born in Bogotá, Colombia.

Alexander is a graduate of Journalism and Mass Communication from the American University in Bulgaria and Fine Arts from LaGuardia Community College at The City University of New York. Alexander works primarily with digital multimedia in the forms of blogging, digital photography, video, interventions, publications and exhibitions.

Between 2003 and 2009 in New York City Alexander was exposed to a wealth of art influences from some of the most recognized artists of our time that helped him develop a range of work that led to photography. In his images Alexander explores the relationships of his subjects with their immediate surroundings. He is interested in how these relationships change the way we perceive ourselves and how they change the way we look at things.

In 2009 Alexander moved to Bulgaria to pursue his university studies. This would be the starting point of a new phase in his photography exploration that continues to this day:

"When I first came to Bulgaria I was amused by this often neglected but vibrant and emblematic country. Living here and experiencing Bulgaria first-hand has helped me to see beyond the surface and visually capture the magic of Bulgaria and its peoples. Now I record life as it’s presented to me. It’s a never-ending discovering process. In my photographs I aim to portrait the Bulgarian experience in all its uniqueness with dignity and truth."
