Anders Ekström

Anders Ekström (b. 1965) is Professor of History of Science and Ideas. Ekström received his PhD from Uppsala University in 1994, and has since then held various positions as researcher, lecturer and professor at Swedish universities and research institutes. He has recently been awarded prizes for his interdisciplinary work and for initiating debates on the role of the humanities in future societies. In 2002-2003, he was Research Director at the Swedish Institute of Studies in Education and Research. In 2008-2012, he was Associate Professor at the Division of History of Science, Technology and Environment at KTH, Stockholm. He has been a visiting fellow at the Swedish Collegium of Advanced Study (1999) and a visiting researcher at Cambridge University (2005-2006, 2013). In 2012, he was appointed Adjunct Professor of Media History at the Department of General History at the University of Turku, Finland. He currently holds visiting fellowships at the Centre for Research in the Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities (CRASSH) and at Clare Hall College, both in Cambridge, UK.

Research and teaching interests include modern European cultural history, media history, visual culture, cultural theory, museum and exhibition studies, science and society, science and media.
