anorak is a Berlin-based curatorial collective, and independent art space with a focus on artists’ moving image, performance, and sound, run by Lukas Ludwig and Johanna Markert. anorak offers a space for sincere and mutual exchange, enabling artists to produce, present, and critically discuss their work. Shaped by long-term collaborations with artists and cultural initiatives, anorak develops site-specific presentations, curates screenings, and hosts the anorak studio programme, which provides artists based in or passing through Berlin with room to experiment, and share their ideas with peers and the broader public.

Founded in 2015 and registered as a non-profit organisation (Kunstverein) with over 150 members, anorak deliberately worked without a fixed location for several years, realising its artistic programme in cooperation with a variety of organisations in Germany and internationally. In 2020, anorak opened its first space and studio in Berlin and is currently based on the 8th floor of the Greenhouse in Berlin-Tempelhof. The anorak studio serves as a communal space, hosting experimental live events, DIY karaoke, and workshops, challenging creative and formal limitations such as genre, canon, authorship, expertise, coherence, and censorship.
