Colectivo Acciones de Arte (CADA, Collective Art Action) was formed in 1979 by writer Diamela Eltit, poet Raúl Zurita, sociologist Fernando Balcells and visual artists Lotty Rosenfeld and Juan Castillo. Among its best-known actions are Para no morir de hambre en el arte (1979), ¡Ay Sudamérica! (1981), and NO + (1984). It operated as a collective until 1985, when it carried out its last art action: Viuda (Widow). The group was described by art theorist and critic Nelly Richard as part of the so-called Escena de Avanzada (Avant-Garde Scene).
