Dana Tomečková (1986, Bratislava) studied metal and jewellery (prof. Karol Weisslechner) at the S+M+L_XL studio at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bratislava. She deepened her studies with a one-year stay at the National Academy of Arts in Oslo (prof. Jorge Manilla Navarrete). Tomečková works primarily with the object, installation and the nature of place. She creates ephemeral situations that are difficult to capture but easy to feel, perceiving space and its relationship to the body. At the heart of her artistic strategy is a fascination with the unstable nature of reality, its elusiveness. Her response to it is perseverance and slowness. She deliberately relinquishes firm control over the material and over the process of creating the work. She lives and works in Bratislava. (2022)
