Professor of Computational Creativity in the Department of Computing in Goldsmiths' College, University of London.

Geraint leads the Intelligent Sound and Music Systems (ISMS) group in the Department of Computing, which forms part of the Centre for Cognition, Computation and Culture, a new venture involving staff from several departments around the College.

Geraint moved to Goldsmiths' from City University, London in September 2004. At City, he had been senior lecturer and then reader in Computational Creativity, also serving as Head of Department of Computing from March 2002.

Up until he moved to City University, London in 1999, he worked in the University of Edinburgh, as a computing officer, then as a research fellow on the ESPRIT Compulog II project (on Logic Program Synthesis and Transformation in the Mathematical Reasoning Group) and, finally, following a year of consultancy work during which he was involved with the successful AME project at the Institute of Ecology and Resource Management, as a lecturer in Artifical Intelligence.

Geraint's first PhD was from Edinburgh, supervised by Dr Graeme Ritchie, in Computational Linguistics; the second one, in Musical Composition, also from Edinburgh, was supervised by Prof. Nigel Osborne.

Geraint served on two of the UK Technology Foresight Creative Digital Media Task Groups, Community and Education and on the Creative Digital Media Subgroup. From 2000 to 2003 he was chair of the SSAISB, the UK learned society for AI/Cognitive Science. He is a founding editor of the AISB Journal, and Associate Editor (English) of Musicae Scientiae, the journal of ESCOM, the European Society for the Cognitive Sciences of Music.
